81, 82, 83 – no effing way, not happening

February 7th, 2021

I got on the scales earlier this week, and I found that my weight has started to creep up slowly.  It’s ever so imperceptible from one day to another, but by the end of the week it’s gone up by 1kg, and problem is if my food intake continues the same as previous week, that trajectory is not going to change.

So, back on calorie counting for a week / sensible eating, and stop stuffing my face with that fruit cake and cream every day.  Once again proving to myself, that with a little bit of effort, not even much effort, just a little bit, I can be disciplined and get myself back on track; thus by the end of the week, I was back down to lower numbers and that trajectory was repeatable.

My eating habits are now almost back to what they were at the peak of my exercise and healthy eating regime.  I have a breakfast, lunch and dinner, with few snack in between, but I guess it’s not all good stuff, or my weight wouldn’t be creeping back up. Got over the Christmas glut, and the ‘eating’ holiday I took in January.

Right, got to off-ski. Lots happening in life at the moment, so again posting the posts months after writing them. Ah well, got to get on with life as it demands.

Bye

TikTok Boom

OMG I’ve discovered TikTok.  I have to admit that certain social media outlets I’ve been avoiding like devil holly water, so I don’t end up wasting masses of time on watching shit online.  I have too many hobbies to deal with to spend time watching silly videos. I’m not even sure why I downloaded TikTok* but I did.  Thankfully I’m finding on it things that interest me and will become useful in certain aspects of my life – as well as the odd Comedy session, Steam Punk Witchery, LoL cats and Chinese Street Fashion (I’m all about 汉语和中国 at the moment).

Among the many completely pointless vids I’ve also discovered all those crazy exercise challenges – nothing too stupid, but definitely something to push the exercise bunnies, and linked to my previous post, few little vids on splits training.  There is a danger with these videos, I think, like with a lot of stuff, that a silly audience like myself can take it too far without thinking through what they’re doing.  I’d like to think I’m not that person – I take the advice with caution, and I try not to push myself to stupid levels (well, not counting that mad cycling session last year – Buya & My Brain is the Obstacle – and I’ve learned my lesson, the hard way)

By the way – I did mention already – but I’m thinking of rebooking that cycling holiday to Cambodia for 2022 after all – so cue some boring diary updates starting in next few weeks, of how I’ve done loops around Battersea Park again, and again, and again, and again…..and again.

TikTok though – I mean, that’s just a disaster waiting to happen, no? All these unqualified trainers (among the many qualified ones, of course), with their own tips for how to exercise and lose weight. Then again……what am I? Hmmm pot calling kettle black, me thinks.

*no, that’s a lie – I know exactly why I downloaded it, and it has nothing at all with a certain Chinese Drama I’m in love with at the moment and using to practice my mandarin understanding.  Nothing at all.  Nope.  None.  Red ribbon.
