TikTok Boom – The Return LOL

One from 27th of March

OMG there are some fit people on TikTok – and I don’t mean fit, like hot and good looking and stuff (although, there are plenty of those on there), but fit like uber healthy, able to do some incredible exercise shit; and I’ve become a sucker for following them and even trying out some of the challenges.  Nothing like trying to do a 60 second squat challenge to Jason Derulo’s Love not war. Yeah, good luck with that one.  Haven’t managed 60 second yet without dying, and then I keep wondering why do my bum muscles hurt so much the day after.  Why do you think love? Cause you been squatting in a position your backside ain’t used to!

Still, it has provided me with another little ‘exercise’ to add to my current repertoire that doesn’t include HIIT sessions. Although, I did another HIIT session this past week, apart from last Sunday – seriously, what’s gone into me. I’m exercising voluntarily, without the support of my friends, dragging my backside for 10k walks, testing my endurance against TikTok exercise challenges.  Think I’ve slipped into a parallel universe. Actually I think part of it, is the season.  In winter when it gets dark outside so early, I just don’t have the desire to do anything.  It’s too dark to paint – no natural light; too dark to go for a walk – nobody’s about so it’s not as safe; too dark to write – my eyes will hurt; just too damn dark, and cold, and miserable, and, and, and…… The minute the sun starts to set later, I feel like I come alive again, I can fit so much more in the day, accomplish so many more of my hobby to-do-tasks. Quite possibly now, even fit in some extra exercise.

Going back to TikTok though, I came across this one Creator (@funwithfitness_), who tries to make exercise fun, by syncing some core work-outs (crunches, crunches, and more crunches), to music.  The girl has some serious core strength, I can’t even contemplate holding those positions for longer than 10 seconds (even that is pushing it).  I’m not exactly following her exercises, but doing the crunches and bicycle crunches from my HIIT workout I tried the method she uses – and it is quite fun.

Well – I’m pleased to say it works – 1) it’s definitely more fun, 2) it prevents me from concentrating on the counting, and 3) ouch.  Because of reason number 2 – I’ve held the position for longer, and OMG my tummy muscles.

But it’s all in good cause.  Apparently towards the back end of May, we maybe out of this Lockdown prison and allowed to visit friends, family and hotels.  My family and I are planning a little reunion at the end of May – fingers crossed, no invisible bug gets in our way – and I plan to have a washboard stomach by then.  Can I add an emoji here that is something like – Yeah, Right, As If, We’ll See.  Is there an emoji like that??? LOL

Fresh Air

Another one from March 2021 – This one from 26th of March LOL

Twice this week I dragged my sorry arse out of the house and for a long walk around the park.

Not quite sure what got into me, other than the desire to lose a few more pounds, and get that tummy totally flat.  Oh, and the prospect on the horizon of going back to working in the office (part time), in the next 2-3 months.   Maybe, just maybe I have found/re-gained my motivation to partake in exercise again.  We’ll have to see.  I’m certainly sticking with my gymnastics and splits training – although the splits training is hard and taking a bit of a battering.  Every few days I stretch my legs so far that it leaves me a little bit uncomfortable for a few days, meaning I have to give my legs a break.  But I’ll get there, it just takes time.  And now it seems I’ve added a 10k walk around a park.

Almost immediately there was a shift in my weight, which has until now stalled/stabilised ad a very specific number.  I knew, of course I knew, that the reason my weight isn’t shifting as fast as I want it to, is because of the exercise.  What exercise I have been doing, and the food I’ve been eating, has helped me to maintain my new weight – but is not conducive to reaching my next goal.

That’s it, nothing else to report today.
