The heat is on ..

Apparently people don’t have much of an appetite in hot weather. Who are those people? Introduce us. I want to know. Cause I eat no matter the weather. Therefore the first week after the recent trip away to Turkey sucked from the diet point of view – there was just no diet. As for exercise – come on, in this heat (UK). I’ve just about enough energy sit upright on the sofa.

Last two days haven’t been so bad though. I’ve turned the hungry – versus – thirsty switch back on, finally. That was a long time coming. So now, once again when I feel that first pang of hunger – I reach for tea, water, cordial, coconut milk, anything liquid other than food. Result being – 2 days and I’m back to my pre-holiday weight!

The problem is – when that happens, I then let go off the reigns a bit, it’s like “oh, great, I have room to play with, let’s have chocolate, ice-cream, extra chips”!!! argh

The chocolate / sugar thing – still not reached the goal. Well, I say that. In the last month or so (excepting the weekend away), I’ve had few odd days where there was no bread eating, or no chocolate/biscuit/cake eating, or cheese eating. So I am doing a lot, lot better than months ago when I first took on this challenge.

Now, if only I could combine a no sugar-bread-cheese days into the same day for like at least 3 days on the trot. Wouldn’t that be a win.

I have, just the other day though, signed up to a veg-box delivery scheme, in the hope to introduce more vegetables into my diet, and reduce the sugar and processed food intake. Let’s see how long that lasts.

In a meantime, I hope this weather subsides. I can’t take the heat any more, not even to go for an evening stroll.

Turkish Kebab

Word of warning – if you’re gonna go on holidays to Istanbul – be prepared to eat. A lot. And if I never see another piece of cheese, or Kunefe or Baklava, or ice-cream, or kebab, or red meat of ay kind – that’ll be too soon. But it was all so delicious. Like I haven’t had a single bad meal the entire weekend I was away.

Which is why, I didn’t bother getting on scales the day before my flight out – I didn’t want to know what I was dealing with. But which is also why, as soon as I got back – I did get on the scales, even though I knew I shouldn’t have, because what’s the point of weighing yourself the day after your hols, when you know for a fact that the little glass buggers are not going to be kind to you.

That said, from not worrying about what I’m eating and just enjoying myself perspective (where food and exercise and healthy life-style is concerned) – this was one of my most enjoyable holidays thus far.

Now I’m back home though ……………………………… yep ……………….. home …………. where I got to stop making excuses ……….. huh …. yeah, right, aha, okay …. damn!
