It’s been a while

March 2023

It’s been a while. I’ve been busy, but that’s not to say that my healthy living habit took a tumble. No, not at all, not by any means. In fact from old perspective I’ve recently signed up to Hello-Fresh – can’t remember, did I mention it!

With the current busy life-style looking after a puppy, I’ve had no time to cook anything, let alone my batch-cooking. Quite frankly the first couple of weeks I was barely able to leave the house. Now things are easier. But thanks to a friend, I signed up to the Hello Fresh scheme and I got to say I love it. It has given me an opportunity to eat a wider variety of foods that I would normally cook, because all the ingredients are provided, so I don’t have to worry about searching for some unknown condiments. And after w while I’ve figured that by buying extra base ingredients like chicken or mushrooms, or whatever the main element is, I can actually double up the recipe from 2 servings to 4.

Thus over the last couple of weeks or so, thanks to the Hello Fresh and continued requirement to now get up early in the morning and take etc dog for a walk, I’ve managed to shift another 2lb. I am slowly (very slowly) but successfully shifting my weight downwards. That 80kg target is in sight. I can almost smell it.

Anyway, hope my readers are all well. I’m getting back to some normality, slowly, so I might be able to report on my health weight adventures a bit more soon. Let’s see.

Now where are those scales…..

All it took was a dog

22nd Feb 2023

You know I’ve been struggling a little bit to get back to my pre-September-2022 weight of 82.something kgs! Well, all it took was looking after a puppy for 5 weeks and I’ve lost 5lb, and I’m now back in my 82s, and I dare say slowly getting down towards 81s.

My lowest weight since starting this journey has been 80 exactly. And I know – let’s face it, we all know – I’ve been lazy, unmotivated and finding excuses, which is why I haven’t lost another 10kgs. And I could have done, I absolutely could have done.

Still, just by getting to 82s, has made such a different in how I feel about myself, my whole body confidence, that I guess it didn’t bother me enough to put in the effort to lose the next set of kgs. Even though I did want to.

Now that I have a four legged critter I need to run about, he is keeping me so occupied I have no time for naughty snacks. Above all my activity level has gone through the roof, just looking after the little fur-ball. I wake up regularly at 7am, that’s our routine and I’m usually out walking in the morning, and the walks will only increase as the puppy grows older, stronger and able to walk further. Already as it it, I part walk and part jog with the four-legged critter, because he wants to run, but I can’t just let him off the lead. So our walks are more like my original jog-a-walk-a-run sessions, only adding to my calorie burning routine.

So, in theory, I should be well on my way to getting back that magic 80.0 number and maybe, just maybe back into 79s in next couple of months or so. Don’t get me wrong though, I don’t advocate for you to get a dog in order to lose weight. That is not the reason – well, not the only reason – why I got a dog. It is simply the reality of owning a pet means I no longer have an excuse to be lazy. I have no choice but to be active as there is another living being now wholly dependent on me.

But let’s not count our chickens before they hatched, eh?!
