A little dent

November 2023

Well, I recovered from my women’s issues and began to make headway getting myself back on track with my food regime of 2 years ago; namely big breakfast, huge lunch and tiny dinner. I’ve confined my snacking to a packet of crisps in the afternoon and 3 chocolates later in the evening. Combined all of that with regular 10,000 steps a day, I am starting to make a dent in my weight once again.

It’s been a slog getting myself back to here. There’s been excuses and hiccups and plain down laziness; and now that I’m nearly back in the old pattern of “smart eating” and some kind of exercise I kind think why it’s been so hard to get back here. I’ve been here before, I knew it was doable, and it’s not like this style of eating and exercising is so hard, or denies me any foods I want.

But, I won’t crow too soon. It’s been only 2 weeks or there about. We are currently in a run-up to Christmas and we all know how that goes. Still I’m determined to do my previous and not be like all those individuals who say “I start after Christmas”. No. I’m simply going to push through Christmas. And if that means I get to eat a massive slab of Christmas cake for breakfast, so be it. It’s not like I haven’t done it before. In fact 2 days last week, it was a massive piece of chocolate cake.

That’s it – that is the key to how I go about losing a few pounds whilst still eating everything. I just eat it in a different order. Last week it was chocolate cake for breakfast. This morning it’s macaroni and goulash. Tomorrow, I’ll figure it out. Having cake for breakfast means I don’t have any dessert later in the day, even if I go out for a pub lunch or something like that. Because I’ve already satisfied my sweet craving and my brain is cool with that. It is all, as we know, psychological.

So, here I am, once again on my healthy living path. I’ve stopped trying to push myself into the HIIT sessions – although I know these are more beneficial in terms of developing muscle all round body. I do however try to ensure I do the 10,000 steps a day. Some folks may think what can 10,000 steps a day do. Well, combine that with some smart eating, and you will start to see your weight drop. I just did. And no, it wasn’t a lot, but it’s a step in the right direction. I’m current 3lb / 1.5kg down.

Right, time for pasta and I need to pop out to the shops. See you soon.
