Wet, Wet, Wet

Ooh, I’m back to using song titles for my topic heads LOL. Or is it a band in this case….

I would just like to say – I fecking hate exercise.  I HATE IT!! I really do.  Have I mentioned that before?

And yet…..I find it strangely satisfying.  Was chatting about this to my friend again recently (over Christmas), and we both continue to be stunned with the fact that I exercise at all.  Don’t get me wrong – I don’t actually enjoy the exercise itself, or even that feeling after the exercise that everybody keeps mentioning – the serotonin, adrenalin, whatever, etc.   It’s more the fact that once I’ve done a session, be it a run (my jog-a-walk-a-run), or HIIT, or dance-off, I just feel like I’ve been productive and haven’t wasted my day completely.

But why the hell did nobody tell me it was raining today!  When I looked through the window earlier it wasn’t raining. I don’t think it was even drizzling.  Yet when I stepped outside for my run after work, it was definitely coming down with something from they sky.  Thing is by that point I was already outside, and quite frankly too lazy to take the key out of the pocket and go back home – even though the door was just behind me. I mean that takes the lazy to another level, don’t it.

So I think it was the ‘lazy’ that had more to do with me going for the run, than anything else – i.e. rather than any desire to lose more weight and keep fit!  Looks like my lazy side can have positive health benefits too.  Who knew!

So, I went for a run.  In the rain.  In the rain!!! Me.  I mean – I hate exercise.  And it was cold.  I really don’t know what got into me.

Whether through the cold or wet, or cause I’m getting a bit better at the running, I got a little faster, and I have almost recovered my speed and VO2 levels to my pre-injury levels.
